TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama returned to practice on Monday after a day off from the scrimmage to participate in its third two- of fall camp. The Crimson opened the day with a two hour practice at 9:30 a.m., in full pads and then will return to the facility in shells at 7:30 p.m.

“We’ve been working hard, especially on first defense,” junior linebacker Dont’a Hightower said. “We came in and said we don’t want people to run the ball against us. We strike upfront; are getting to the ball quick. The secondary is pretty good so we are able to break down a safety in the box every now and then. We look good but if we want to be the number one defense in the country there are still some things we have to work on.”

Alabama will practice five more times, including a two- on Wednesday, before the second scrimmage of camp on Saturday. The will then suit up 10 more times before the season opener against Kent State.

“Camp started out kind of rough but it’s starting to smooth out now,” senior wide receiver said. “I had to get back into shape and into the swing of things. You are using a lot more doing football than conditioning and straight running.”

The will open the season against the Flashes on Saturday, Sept. 3, with kick off scheduled for 11:21 a.m. The game will be televised by the Network.
