SEC Previews and Predictions: Week 13

Rivalry week is here, and for the first time perhaps since the inception of the SEC’s dual-division setup, there may not be a game on the list with any real consequences. Alabama goes to Atlanta no matter what it does against Auburn, and would still go to the College Football Playoff by winning the SEC Championship Game as a one-loss team. Really the only drama this week surrounds the teams needing a sixth win to get bowl-eligible.

UTC wrap-up: Alabama didn’t want to be here, and it showed

Alabama didn’t bring its A-game against Chattanooga Saturday – or its B-game, or its C-game.

What Alabama brought was good enough to win, but not good enough to keep Nick Saban from peeling the paint off the locker room walls at halftime.

UTC preview: Mocs a quality FCS team, but no match for Bama

Chattanooga is 8-2 and a respected offensive and defensive force in Division-IAA’s Southern Conference, and serve as a decent analog for Week 13 opponent Auburn. This is a talented offensive team with good balance, good coaching and the desire to make a name for itself.

But Alabama is the top-ranked team in the country for a reason. The talent differential between these two teams is mighty. Here’s a preview of what to expect when Chattanooga comes to town Saturday night to face the Crimson Tide.

SEC Previews and Predictions: Week 12

The Predictions Dept. slid under the 80-percent mark for the first time this season on the back of a mediocre Week 11. Given the lack of competitive matchups this week, it would be difficult not to rise back above the 80-percent mark heading into Week 13. The rescheduled Florida-LSU game is by far the most intriguing of Week 12’s games, to the extent that Mississippi State-Arkansas is the next-best offering on the sheet.

MSU wrap-up: Bama walks the ’Dogs down the beaten path

It might take a while to process how complete a victory this was for Alabama on Mississippi State, but if there was any clearer indication of just how much stronger the Alabama program is than just about everyone else in the SEC, here it was.

A Mississippi State team that a week before had beaten a young, growing, but still very talented Texas A&M team got outright embarrassed at Bryant-Denny Stadium. What Alabama did to the Bulldogs is considered cruelty to animals in all 50 states.

MSU preview: Suddenly, Bulldogs have everyone’s attention

Alabama opened as a four-touchdown favorite in this game, and with the kickoff at 11 a.m., Mississippi State is hamstrung even further as the road team. Still, Texas A&M was ranked No. 4 in the country, and the Bulldogs slayed them. Alabama can’t treat this game as part one of a two-part walkover leading up to its game against Auburn.
