4. Placekicker

Joseph Bulovas’ 2018 season will be remembered for a slew of missed PATs, which is unfortunate given that heading into the Clemson game, he was 13-of-17 on field goals and had made 11 of his last 12. Those kind of numbers on three-point kicks is nothing to make light of, and if he’d only cut his PAT misses in half, we wouldn’t be talking about this position as being up in the air at all.

Two factors are in play, however: The PAT issue is one of them, but the arrival of talented freshman Will Reichard is the other. Reichard could also be in the mix at punter, but he’ll get his first look at placekicker and if he proves more dependable on short kicks, could easily win this job.

Summary: The presence of Reichard on the roster gives Alabama two scholarshipped placekickers, which is in itself an oddity. Bulovas will need to focus in order to keep his job.
