TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team returned outdoors as the Crimson Tide practiced for two hours in full pads, Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
“We really are trying to get our team prepared to play on the road and psychologically have what it takes to stay focused when you play on the road against good teams,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “This is going to be a real challenge and a test of maturity. We are playing against a very good team.”
Alabama continues preparations for its matchup against Penn State. The Tide piped crowd noise at the practice facility to emulate the atmosphere expected at Beaver Stadium.
“We have had a couple decent days of practice, but I think it is really important our players understand and respect the quality of team that they are playing,” Saban added. “We are playing a different team than we did a year ago. Focus is going to be a real key.”
Alabama will practice one more time in Tuscaloosa on Thursday before heading to State College, Pa., on Friday.
The two teams will meet on Saturday, Sept. 10, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ABC with Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe calling the action from Happy Valley.
