TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team held its 18th practice of fall camp on Friday with a two-hour session at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The practice marked the Crimson Tide’s final workout before its second scrimmage, which is set for Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“We need to get the running game going (in this scrimmage),” senior center William Vlachos said. “I only went about 60 or 70 percent of the snaps last time after being sick, so I am looking forward to getting a full scrimmage under my belt and getting the running game going, continuing to improve the pass protection and letting everyone else do their job.”

Vlachos, along with junior Barrett Jones, bring strong veteran leadership to the offensive line. Also returning to the offensive front is junior Chance Warmack and sophomore D.J. Fluker, who earned Freshman All-America honors in 2010. Alabama will have to replace NFL first-round draft pick James Carpenter, but has several talented options to choose from.

“I think we have more than five guys capable of playing,” Vlachos said. “Whichever five they put out there is what they are going to put out there. Barrett (Jones) continues to do a great job at left tackle. A bunch of other guys are doing good things too. (Anthony) Steen is doing a great job at right guard. It is really fun working with those guys. We will see what happens come kickoff time.”
