TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama football team held a single two-hour practice session on Tuesday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields, marking the 14th training session of fall camp for the Crimson Tide.
“Yesterday we probably had the best two practices we have had in a day,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “I like the way the players responded to making the corrections and improvements we needed to make after the scrimmage.”
The Tide will have four additional practices this week, two on Wednesday and one each on Thursday and Friday, before holding its second scrimmage of the season on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
“I am pleased with the progress we are making,” Saban added. “Things are really starting to take shape.”
Following practice, the University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band took part in teaching the fight song, “Yea Alabama,” to the freshmen.
Earlier in the day, it was announced that junior running back Trent Richardson will, once again, appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, with the issue slated to hit newsstands on Thursday, August 18. This is the 11th time in Saban’s tenure that Alabama has been featured on an SI cover.
“It is an honor and a great thing for the program to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated,” Richardson said. “This is a testament to all the hard work that this team has put in leading up to the start of this season. This entire team has put this program in a position to be successful, and I am just a small part of that.”
Alabama returns to two-a-days tomorrow with a 9:30 morning session and 7:30 evening session.
