SEC Preview and Predictions: Week 8

Two major upsets caught the Predictions Dept. off-guard last week, especially LSU's defeat of SEC East-leading Georgia. The bigger surprise, though, might have been a horrid Tennessee team knocking off an Auburn squad that started the year ranked inside the top ten. This week, Auburn, which suddenly doesn't have much of an offense, has to hold off an Ole Miss team that has no defense. Outside of the LSU-Mississippi State, it's the most intriguing game on this week's schedule.

Signing Day 2018: So-so finish undersells a solid class

A year after signing what was at the time, the best class in Alabama history on paper – a heralding that backed itself up on the field once the fall came – Alabama couldn’t repeat its past glories, and ended up signing the lowest-ranked class since Nick Saban’s first class at Alabama in 2007.

The Citadel preview: Tide’s goals are to limit injuries, exposure

Games against teams like The Citadel have become a necessary evil in top-level college football. Top teams can't play challenging games every week, because football is an emotional sport at the college level, the repercussions of a loss are too severe, and sometimes, the starters just need a break.

The Citadel wrap-up: Yeah, it’s a win, but …

We've seen this movie before. Alabama schedules a triple-option team in the Week 12 slot, gives up a bunch of rushing yards, gets the TV talking heads all atwitter about sudden vulnerability against the run, and then Nick Saban has what he needs to motivate his defense for the Auburn game the following week.

Arkansas wrap-up: Bama wins big, but leaves for home with lots to fix

One of the great challenges of watching the 2018 Alabama football team play is convincing people that when the offense, directed by Tua Tagovailoa, is capable of scoring points at will, there remain significant areas of concern that could affect Bama's march back to the college football title game.

Georgia wrap-up: A story too preposterous for Hollywood, but still so very real

From now until the day that football ceases to be played, is Jalen Hurts' legacy, and someone should carve it into the precast concrete of Mercedes-Benz Stadium for good measure: Here played a true teammate, unselfish and honorable, a good man and leader of men, a champion. Here was where Jalen Hurts was finally appreciated for the winner he always was.

Texas A&M Preview: Aggies Are Better Under Fisher, But Not On Bama’s Level Yet

There are a lot of similarities between Texas A&M in 2018 and Alabama in 2007. Both programs were coming out of the pit of despair – which for their respective fan bases, means anything less than 10 wins a season. While the Aggie offense is much improved – which you'd figure would happen, given Fisher's history as an offensive coordinator – the Aggie defense might not be able to slow down Alabama's high-powered passing attack enough to pull the upset.
