Last week’s record: 5-4 (55.6%)

Season record: 92-20 (82.1%)

The Predictions Dept. slid into home with some cuts and bruises in the final week of the regular season. And unfortunately, because one of those misses was in the Alabama-Auburn game, this week’s SEC preview will be an abbreviated look at Auburn-Missouri rather than an in-depth look at a game featuring Alabama.

MISSOURI vs. AUBURN (at Atlanta, Ga.)

We haven’t been big believers in Missouri the last two weeks, picking them to lose against both Ole Miss and Texas A&M (and being wrong both times). This will be the third straight week of no-confidence votes. Auburn’s biggest challenge will be not about what Missouri can deliver, but rather the inevitable emotional letdown that follows the Tigers’ literally last-second win over Alabama. Missouri’s offense is quite balanced, and Auburn’s secondary will likely have trouble stopping the Missouri passing game. But the Missouri defense has survived mostly via smoke and mirrors behind a solid defensive front, and if Mizzou isn’t perfectly disciplined up front, Auburn’s running game will punish the Tigers of the SEC East. The winner of this game goes into the on-deck circle, awaiting a BCS Championship Game slot should either Ohio State or Florida State fall. Bet on Auburn being that team.

Auburn 44

Missouri 38
